well, i was a bit discouraged yesterday when only one student showed up to a swim day that we had planned. i called about 10-12 students and some of them said they would probably come, and i knew of some junior highers that said they might come, and then there was only one, and we canceled. thanks kathryn for coming.
so i spent the afternoon chilling, did a little reading, threw some discs, and then friday night i got to lead worship. i had a great time leading worship, since i haven't really had the op at faith yet, and it will be a while before the kids are ready.
i'm just discouraged. but something cool happened friday night. i began playing a song i had written and almost everyone knew it. it was cool. i didn't know half the people there, but even some of them knew it. i guess that brandon plays it, and copies of some of my recordings have gotten circulated, so that was cool. it helped me feel like i had been used by God.
so today is another day. so our swim day got canceled, but i just need to take things one day at a time...you know...it's hard, but that's the way it is.
I was at part of the Friday Night Alive a couple weeks ago when you led worship, Greg. Being older than the dust on my shoes, I had to leave at 11:15 but I heard enough to recharge my batteries. I need the passion in worship that I experience when I come to Friday Night. I must seem like some old weird relic to the "kids" around but it might be a good idea for us all to mix a little more, right?
I really loved your comments that worship is not about the leader or the songs or the structure but about the One we worship. If we could only realize that the praise we bring is our sacrifice and God does not expect the lame and crippled sacrifice but the best of the herd!! So if I pour myself into each worship experience, no matter the setting, God is pleased and I am enriched. I look back and I'm grateful that God led you to the Potter's House to help us when we really needed you. You have been a great mentor to Brandon and he is an awesome worship leader. I know the role you played in his blossoming and I appreciate you for it.
I would really like to get a CD of your songs. I loved the lyrics to the one you played that Friday night (the name escapes me now) and if you have time would love to take you to lunch and reminisce and vision!!
